#ipcrg 2010: GPwSI driving force behind COPD admissions

Yesterday I heard a nice talk by Daryl Freeman. She demonstrated some nice results from a local initiative to reorganise care. This initiative was supported by herself as a GPwSI. By structuring local care and motivating and educating care-givers involved, COPD admission rates dropped as much as 50%. Although results were due to a relatively large room for improvement, the main lesson for me was that GPwSI can be important and necessary driving forces behind local improvements and the implemantation of standards and protocols. Good job Daryl!
